ROS News for March 2nd, 2026
This week we released the ROSCon Global 2026 artwork as well as our diversity scholarships. We also announced a new regional ROSCon in Belgium. On the meetup front we added events in Mountain View, Nigeria, Krakow, and Medellin along with a laundry list of other events (see the full list below).

The Intrinsic AI for Industry Challenge kicked off this week with a series of meetings
along with an open source Toolkit for simulating your workcell. Even if you are not competing there are some real gems in the toolkit, so it is worth checking out.

Jasmeet Singh has a couple of great tutorials on Gazebo system plugins that are must for anyone building a custom simulation environment (Part 1: Introduction, Part 2: Making an LED Plugin).

The ROS Controls team has a PR in review to add an Open Duck Mini ONNX locomotion demo to ROS Control. The model is trained using the MuJoCo simulator.
In other PR news. a PR for a New inflation layer with optional OpenMP acceleration for Nav2 is now in review. It looks like it really improves Nav2 performance for hardware that supports OpenMP.
Anyone and everyone should feel empowered to send any OSRA project a PR! Don’t let those cool new features and improvements languish in a fork.
