Automate in Chicago is a little over a week away, and we’ve planned a big ROS Automate Meetup in Chicago to coincide with that and the ROS Industrial annual meeting. The timing seems right. Fanuc now has a dedicated page for ROS 2 support. At ICRA last week Comau and Schunk we’re both proclaiming their love for ROS. It seems like ROS 2 support in the industrial world is growing rapidly.

The talk schedule for ROSCon Global in Toronto is now on the website. We’ve got a fantastic lineup, and we’re very pleased with the results. If your employer would like a booth at ROSCon it is now or never, as we only have a handful left including two or three discounted startup alley booths for new and emerging companies.

We recommend you register ASAP! The last day for discounted early-bird tickets in June 12th. Early bird tickets are $100 cheaper, making your workshop registration effectively free!

Our colleagues over at OpenCV dropped OpenCV 5 last week at CVPR 2026 in Denver. OpenCV only makes whole number releases every five or six years so this is a big deal. The TL;DR is that OpenCV has been re-built from the ground up to support significantly faster processing and better support all of the latest models. You can read all about the updates here.

NASA has announced a new Space Robotics Challenge. The winner gets a free ride to low-earth orbit to show off what they can do. Registration is now open, and the first kickoff webinar is June 24th.

Check out NeoRacer V2 a 3D-printable open-source chassis for autonomous racing in robotics education and research. I just talked to the Neobotics Foundation and we’ll be hanging out at Open Sauce this year. I’ll try to organize a ROS By-The-Bay Meetup to coincide with Open Sauce weekend.

I’ll take what we can get. I’m sympathetic to people working in the trenches of industrial deployments being risk and change averse. Baby steps.

In the meantime Schunk and Comau were letting their ROS flags fly at ICRA.

Is it just me, or are the names of the speakers for the talks completely hidden with the Whova plugin?

I believe the speaker names will be published when they have all been confirmed for accuracy with the conference organizers.
