ROS News for the Week of October 5th, 2026

October is a busy month for regional ROSCons! ROSCon China in Shanghai is next weekend followed by ROSCon UK in Edinburgh. The following weekend is a sold out ROSCon Singapore (note that there is still space available for the pre-ROSConSG hackathon, and hackathon II). The month concludes with a two day ROSCon Spain in Valencia on October 27th and 28th.

weld
This week @berkan_tali released Hold and Weld v.0.3.0. Hold and Weld is a ROS 2 workspace that uses a bimanual robot setup to both hold and weld components with a lot of parameters for configuring the weld path.

official-dance
Jumper is an open source software and hardware crab robot built using Rust. The project includes a really slick in-browser simulator. While the robot doesn’t currently run ROS, adding a ROS autonomy stack seems like it would be fairly straight forward to implement.

@fmrico and our colleagues in Spain have released EasyNav 0.5.0 for Humble, Jazzy, Kilted and Lyrical. EasyNav interoperates with Nav2 in some capacities and includes a suite of simulated playgrounds for you to play with and evaluate.

Please take a moment to complete our annual Open Robotics Developer Survey. We’re starting to plan our project roadmaps for 2027 and we need feedback from our user community to help guide us! 50 lucky survey participants will get coupon code for a ROS or Gazebo shirt from our Open Robotics swag store.
