GZ Weather System – Realistic Rain & Snow Simulation for Gazebo Sim

Hi everyone,

We are excited to share GZ Weather System, an open-source collection of realistic Rain and Snow simulation worlds for Gazebo Sim (Harmonic) built using Gazebo Sim’s built-in ParticleEmitter system.

The goal of this project is to provide lightweight, reusable weather environments that can be integrated into robotics simulations without requiring custom rendering plugins.

Features

  • :cloud_with_rain: Realistic Rain simulation

  • :snowflake: Realistic Snow simulation

  • Runtime particle emission control using Gazebo Transport

  • Built entirely with Gazebo Sim’s built-in ParticleEmitter system

  • Easy to customize and integrate into existing simulation environments

This project was inspired by the official Gazebo Sim Particle Enitter concept to support realistic Rain and Snow weather effects.
