Progress updates:
- Buildfarm: We’re looking into some test failures on macOS arm64 for Gz-rendering and Gz-physics. We’re also provisioning a new
mac-eight-arm.sequoiamachine. - Jetty Demo:
- We’re planning a demo contribution from the Open-RMF team to show how the occupancy grid exporter can be used to quickly create scenes for AMRs.
- Dry-runs for the Jetty release demo are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept 30 (9am PDT) and another one at an Asia-friendly time.
- Friendly reminder to send any slides highlighting Jetty features to Kat!
- Packaging:
- Work is ongoing to repackage
gz-simfor server-only installations (gz-sim PR, gz-physics PR). This will likely be done after the Jetty release to be safe. - Progress continues on the Conda environment for Windows in Jetty (PR 1, PR 2), including a move to one
pixi.tomlfile per Gazebo release.

- Zenoh: Work has started on supporting the Zenoh router. We discussed the best way to locate the configuration file, weighing whether to use an environment variable or a default file path convention.
- Rendering: A PR to remove the Ogre2 overlay component is in progress. This is expected to fix a failure seen on macOS on Conda.
- Tutorials: We reviewed the tutorial party stats and will hold a retrospective. There was some confusion with the Windows tutorials, which led to some participants accidentally using older Gazebo versions for testing. In the future, we’ll ask for screenshots to verify the version being used.

New agenda items:
- Conference Feedback: We discussed topics from a recent ROS Meetup:
- There’s a lot of interest in a “debugger-friendly” lockstep mode, similar to what’s available in distributed simulation.
- We also talked about serialization. A switch to something like Flatbuffers was discussed, but it was noted this would be a major, non-backward-compatible change.
- Long-term Gazebo Planning: There was a proposal to start a Working Group (WG) for long-term planning of Gazebo. The team agreed that a great first step would be to conduct a “Gazebo-classic retrospective” to gather lessons learned, and then create the new WG to explore new ideas.
