Gazebo PMC Meeting Minutes 2026-05-04

Hi Gazebo Community!

This week’s meeting was held on 2026-05-04T18:00:00Z and the following is a summary:

Welcomes

  • We welcomed our new GSoC contributor @C88-YQ who will be working on the project “Scalable Multi-Robot Integration and Automated Bridging for ROS 2 and Gazebo”.

PMC Business

New agenda items

  • We’re starting to brainstorm ideas for the OSRA 2026 funding proposals. Proposals are due by 2026-06-30T00:00:00Z, so please add your thoughts to the brainstorming document (not public). Some early ideas include improving AI tooling, GPU-based parallel workloads, and creating better canonical examples for ROS + Gazebo.
  • We discussed standardizing our backport merge strategy. The proposed policy is to “Rebase and Merge” for clean backports to preserve authorship, but switch to “Squash merge” when there are conflicts that need manual intervention. This hasn’t been finalized yet.

Updates

  • The buildfarm is looking good with an overall increase in “greenness”! You can check the Issues spreadsheet for current priorities.
  • Zenoh 1.8.0 upgrade packages are now available in the prerelease repository.
  • We’re working on Ubuntu Resolute support. Ogre 2.3.1 is in prerelease, and we’re planning an update to 2.3.3 soon.
  • A new Gazebo performance profiling report is available for review.
  • Support for ball joints in Mujoco is currently in review (gz-physics#967).
  • We’ve started adding metadata for Ubuntu 26.04 support across the repositories (release-tools#1492).
