This week’s meeting was held on 2026-05-11T18:00:00Z and the following is a summary:
PMC Business
- Asynchronous votes are being taken to establish the Gazebo Future Planning Working Group. Votes are due by 2026-05-18T00:00:00Z.
New agenda items
- Discussed build farm queue lengths on Windows and Ubuntu. While nodes are currently scaled back on weekends, statistics will be restored to monitor the situation and scaling will be adjusted if long queues persist.
- Ongoing discussion on bumping the required C++ standard to C++20. Discussion is continuing on Zulip, and we highly encourage feedback from the community: Gazebo Zulip: C++20.
- More brainstorming OSRA 2026 funding proposals.
Updates
- Buildfarm: New issue reported with PluginSpecialization.AccessTime tests failing in gz-plugin. Current priorities can be tracked in the Issues spreadsheet.
- Progress on Ubuntu 26.04 support (#1485): Rotary debian binaries are available in the nightly repo, and stable branch CI is in review (#1495).
- Exploration of reproducible builds is ongoing (#1497).
- Migration away from FreeImage: waiting on Ogre 2.3 debs (#9)
- Ogre 1.12 migration is under review (#1291).
- Performance improvements in
gz-mathincluding a new microbenchmark and correctness fixes. - Work on
ros_buildfarmto fix the lack of a bzip2 dependency (#1119). - Gazebo on Resolute: Ogre 2.3.3 and Dart 6.16 have been released.
- Support for ball joints in Mujoco has been merged (#967).
- Documentation: New navigation menu sections for the documentation site have landed in #662. Check it out at https://gazebosim.org/docs/latest.
