Hi everyone,
we have recently released AssemblyGrid v1, an open benchmark for studying decentralized multi-robot production.
The motivation is that many multi-agent and multi-robot benchmarks abstract away some of the interactions that become important in production systems. In AssemblyGrid, robots operate with local information while production may require:
- robot-to-robot material handoffs,
- temporary coalitions for operations requiring multiple robots,
- concurrent execution of independent production activities,
- recipe-dependent process progression,
- and geometric feasibility constraints.
The benchmark currently provides nine official scenarios organized around Flow, Coalition, and Concurrency, each with easy, medium, and hard configurations.
We released the simulator, benchmark definitions, reference implementations, executable checks, and visualization material openly.

We would especially appreciate feedback from the robotics community on the benchmark design, the realism of the abstractions, and which additional multi-robot production situations would be most valuable to represent in future versions.
A short visualization of the nine scenarios is included below.
