REP-2000 update

REP-2000 [1] is a very useful document that defines the required dependency versions for each version of ROS 2. However, the latest distribution listed on the page is Kilted Kaiju, and information for Lyrical Luth has not yet been published. Could you please update the page to include the Lyrical Luth specifications?

The REPs website was moved a little while ago to https://reps.openrobotics.org/.

REP-2000 is no longer updated, as the information contained in it is better located in the documentation for each release.

This is (was?) my go-to page as well to see what versions should be supported for active distributions.

In the current state, this REP will look outdated for the years to come. Perhaps we can add new releases with only a hyperlink to the release documentation such as @gbiggs linked.

It will be a short section (like rolling now) but at least it looks maintained and points user in the right direction.

This isn’t a bad idea. I think we’re still missing a page that summarizes ROS 2 releases at a glance. I try to keep an abridged version of active distros on the docs.ros.org landing page. I can add links to the full support page.

I feel like we’re still missing “TL;DR” table on top of REP-2000 with each release, its Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 OSs and a hyperlink to the docs.

I went and updated the table on the docs landing page to point to the full distro platform support info pages. This should be sufficient for most new users and hopefully improve their SEO.

We still probably want to decide if we want to still use REP-2000 as the “at a glance” resource for viewing all distros or if we want to create a new page for it. What I struggle with is understanding what most users are looking for when they visit REP-2000. Are they primarily looking for platform (i.e. OS) support info, or are they interested in the dependency information too?
