Linorobot2 Cockpit: In-Browser Web Supervisor, Turnkey micro-ROS & 1-Click Nav2 Autonomy (Call for Testers)

Hi ROS community,

We are excited to share Linorobot2 Cockpit GitHub - hippo5329/linorobot2-cockpit: 1-Click mobile robot autonomy from browser to bare microcontroller: unified micro-ROS firmware, realistic physics simulation, SLAM & Nav2 supervisor. · GitHub (release v2026.09) and invite developers, researchers, and roboticists to test out the platform
and share feedback!

Linorobot2 Cockpit is a containerized, browser-based supervisor for ROS 2 mobile robots. It provides a unified web control station spanning bare-metal microcontroller firmware generation,
hardware validation, real-time physics tuning, and autonomous navigation.
Whether you are deploying to physical hardware (Differential Drive, 4WD Skid Steer, or Mecanum) or evaluating autonomy pipelines with zero physical hardware, Cockpit is designed to
eliminate bringup friction.

:glowing_star: Key Highlights & Architectural Features

• Dual ROS 2 Distribution Support: Turnkey production container runtimes for both ROS 2 Jazzy (Ubuntu 24.04) and ROS 2 Lyrical (Ubuntu 26.04).
• Multi-Microcontroller micro-ROS Firmware:
• Native firmware compilation and flashing across Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W (RP2350), Pico W (RP2040), ESP32, and ESP32-S3.
• Supports high-speed USB CDC serial (up to 1.5 Mbaud) as well as wireless UDP Micro-ROS networking.
• Over-the-Air (OTA) wire-free flashing via ArduinoOTA (port 3232) with authentication password support.
• Built-In Electro-Mechanical Simulation (“Sim MCU”):
• Test odometry, EKF sensor fusion, SLAM Toolbox, and Nav2 path planning with zero physical hardware or wiring.
• Simulates motor torque curves, battery voltage sag, Coulomb friction, encoder quantization, and dynamic 2D LiDAR raycasting against virtual arena boundaries and internal obstacle
walls.
• The 1-Click Autonomy Pipeline & Real-Time Canvas Viewer:
• Trigger an automated end-to-end bringup sequence with a single click: verifies 50 Hz /odom and /imu/data publish rates, runs a 6-manoeuvre drive qualification suite, and launches
SLAM + Nav2.
• Live HTML5 canvas Map Viewer renders the occupancy grid, real-time LaserScan returns, and robot heading pose over rosbridge without GPU overhead.
• Interactive Tuning Studio & In-Browser RViz:
• Kinematics Physics HUD: Dynamic calculation of acceleration envelopes, braking distances, and Nav2 limit tuning.
• Pin Matrix Conflict Guard: Real-time validation of GPIO allocations, hardware timers, and reserved silicon bootstrap pins.
• In-Browser RViz: Embedded virtual X11 / noVNC display streaming full 3D costmaps and TF trees directly inside the browser.

:rocket: Getting Started in 3 Minutes

Cockpit runs completely containerized, requiring no local ROS 2 installation on your host:

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/hippo5329/linorobot2-cockpit.git
cd linorobot2-cockpit

# Launch the Cockpit stack
docker compose up -d

# Open the supervisor in your web browser:

│ Testing Tip: Once connected, click :rocket: Start 1-Click in the header, jump over to the Map Viewer tab, and press Connect to watch the robot map the room and navigate around obstacle walls
│ live in simulation mode!

:speech_balloon: We Welcome Your Feedback!

We would love to hear feedback from the ROS community:

  1. Simulation & Bringup UX: How did the 1-Click bringup and web Map Viewer perform on your workstation?
  2. Hardware Compatibility: Have you tested with different microcontrollers (Pico 2, ESP32-S3), IMUs, or motor drivers?
  3. Nav2 & Path Planning Tuning: Thoughts on our kinematic limits and MPPI/DWB controller configurations?
