Space Station OS v0.8.4: Mission Control demo with OpenMCT + ROS 2

Hello ROS Community,

We are excited to share the latest milestone from our open-source project, Space Station OS (SSOS) — a ROS 2-based platform for simulating and integrating subsystems of future crewed space stations.

In version v0.8.4, we have released our first fully integrated Mission Control Center demo, featuring:

  • Real-time dashboard integration via OpenMCT

  • Live telemetry and feedback for thermal dynamics and ECLSS (Environmental Control and Life Support System)

  • Multiple operator modes: Astronaut, Developer, Ground Control

  • Modular ROS 2 node architecture compatible with Gazebo-based simulations

Why might this be relevant to you?

If you are working on:

  • Human-in-the-loop simulation

  • Autonomous control of GNC / TCS / ECLSS systems

  • ROS-based multi-subsystem integration

  • High-fidelity visualization and telemetry workflows

…then we would love to hear your thoughts.

Starting from this version, each release will be driven by an integrated use-case demo — enabling a clearer trajectory across our simulation roadmap.

We welcome collaborators and contributors. Feedback and suggestions are highly appreciated.

Thank you!
