For decades, space systems have been developed in silos:
GNC engineers working in STK, thermal engineers in Thermal Desktop.
With Space Station OS (SSOS) we are overturning that paradigm — bringing validated components together into one integrated simulation platform.
In version v0.8.5, we introduce:
-
Thermal Nodes Visualization
Integrated and YAML-driven thermal control with diagnostics and GUI visualization. -
ROS2–CCSDS Communication Bridge
First implementation of a ROS 2 bridge to CCSDS protocols for ground/satellite interoperability. -
GNC Orbital Simulation & Thruster Allocation
Orbit dynamics simulation integrated with YAML-defined thruster allocation tables. -
Tooling updates
Fixes for OpenMCT npm install in Docker and CI improvements.

Why it matters
Because SSOS is a platform, not a one-off model, subsystem components once implemented remain available for reuse — much like ROS libraries. This enables anyone to build and simulate a space station by combining validated modules from different domains.
We welcome collaborators, contributors, and feedback from the ROS community to push this vision forward.
