Broken binary sync in lyrical for control msgs.

Hello everyone,

So just updating you on an issue regarding binary ABI mismatch caused by ros lyrical control msgs being built against the experimental code generator, and requires symbols that do not exist in the older system pkgs.

I don’t understand your statement very well. Could you please rephrase it? Are you asking a question or is this an announcement of a bug you’ve found?

Hello so sorry, I typed fast  there.
Anyway I have found a small bug due to build farm and that results in latest control_msgs to be unusable if not built from source.

here is the details, which I opened as an issue and closed as to announce it here:

Thank you (Just checked it again and yeah its still there).

Hello, I’m facing the same issue, to give more context about the lyrical binaries after the Sep 18 sync

Since then, CI jobs built on ros:lyrical-ros-base that apt-get install extra packages fail at load time with errors like: symbol lookup error: libtest_msgs__rosidl_typesupport_fastrtps_c.so: undefined symbol: has_buffer_fields_builtin_interfaces__msg__Duration The new packages were built with the new rosidl generator (rosidl::Buffer), but the image still has older message packages. apt doesn’t upgrade them because nothing tells it the new test_msgs needs a newer builtin_interfaces. Running apt-get upgrade first fixes it, so I’m fine on my side. But it’s not just me, a few other projects hit the same thing:

I did a proposition on Generated packages should depend on a generator ABI version, so apt can't mix incompatible builds · Issue #1015 · ros2/rosidl · GitHub to avoid this issue in the future
