New agenda items

  • Started the Gazebo-M name process: The Gazebo M release process has officially commenced with committers submitting naming proposals. This release sequence skips K and L versions to sync the name with ROS.

  • Buildfarm Security & Infrastructure:

    • Build Farm Infrastructure Challenges: The buildfarm is still not 100% stable after the Anubis update. The infrastructure team is actively investigating system stability and monitoring infrastructure channels for further resolution updates.
  • Build Farm Updates - Abseil dependency: A new update to Abseil, a dependency of Protobuf, was merged in Homebrew, causing failures in several CI jobs. Rerunning CI should resolve these issues.

Updates

  • gz-common - ColladaLoader improvements: @caguero provided an update on a series of three PRs intended to improve the custom Collada loader. @caguero and @luca are coordinating efforts to integrate the assimp loader, with the goal of maintaining a unified test suite that passes in both the custom and assimp loaders.

  • C++20 Transition Strategy: The team discussed the transition to C++20 to align with ROS Rolling and Lyrical. The team reviewed the necessary steps, including managing ABI compatibility and updating CMake configurations to respect the CMake CXX standard variable. A gz-cmake update, which supports C++20 and C++23, has already been merged.

  • Ubuntu 26.04 Debs Build Status: Successfully built 26.04 debs up through gz-fuel-tools11. Builds for gz-transport15 and gz-rendering10 failed.

  • gz-sim Test Failure: Addressed a test failure in gz-sim, which was traced to numerical imprecision in sdformat. A contributor provided a high-quality pull request to resolve the issue.
