PMC Business
- @caguero has volunteered to represent Gazebo at the Technical Governance Committee (TGC). Thanks to @scpeters for his work as the outgoing representative!
New agenda items
- Dashboard Consolidation Strategy: Discussed consolidating various project dashboards (such as the backports tracking dashboard and the legacy
gz-dashboardrepository) into a centralized repository under thegazebosimGitHub organization, utilizing a subdirectory structure. The team also discussed future plans to integrate automated commit analysis to help identify which pull requests require a release.
Updates
Infrastructure & Buildfarm
- Buildfarm Dashboard: The new Buildfarmer Dashboard is now public and updated daily. Please share your feedback on the Zulip thread.
- Test Failures: A new flaky timeout failure in
gz-simunit server tests (gz-sim#3829) is being investigated. - Maintenance & Upgrades:
- A Jenkins upgrade is planned for this week to apply security fixes and install the timeout plugin (see ros-infrastructure/cookbook-jenkins#13).
- Terraform updates are being executed to migrate branch protection rules from
nobletoresolutefor all repositories. - Release repositories are being prepared with new
resolutefolders to support the Rotary and Jetty branches. - The MuJoCo Debian package is ready and will be added to the pre-release repository.
Package Updates
gz-transport:- Updates were merged to the service CLI tool in Rotary to simplify service requests by inferring parameter types through discovery and improving one-way service calls.
- Test infrastructure was refactored on Ionic and Harmonic to support running tests in parallel and replace unreliable sleeps with retry loops, fixing a flaky test issue (gz-transport#897).
gz-math: Python bindings forVolumetricGridLookupFieldwere merged and backported to Rotary, Jetty, Ionic, and Harmonic.
Documentation
- Release Naming Process: A documentation PR has been merged (gazebosim/docs#704) that outlines the Gazebo release name selection process. @caguero has stepped up to manage the naming process for the upcoming release.
- Project Cadence: Draft documentation (not public yet) on Project Lead Responsibilities was shared to detail weekly, monthly, and yearly project cadences to help distribute tasks more evenly across the PMC.
