This week’s meeting was held on 2026-04-20T18:00:00Z and the following is a summary:

PMC Business

  • None

New agenda items

  • Redistributing Gazebo maintainer responsibilities: We need volunteers from the current list of committers to replace inactive maintainers and will check if currently assigned maintainers are able to continue.
    • Decided to keep CODEOWNERS and package.xml in sync as the two sources of truth for maintainer information and remove maintainers from README files.

Updates

  • Buildfarm: No new issues last week, and most existing issues were solved. Gazebo GitHub workflow results in buildfarm dashboard.
    • Discussed integrating GitHub Actions workflows into a centralized buildfarm dashboard to track required jobs that must pass for merging pull requests.
  • gz-sim:
    • Initial work to Use protobuf Arena allocation in publisher systems shows slight performance improvements.
    • Planning to systematically profile Gazebo to support the performance improvement roadmap item.
  • Ogre/FreeImage: Discussed the Ogre 1.9 / FreeImage security problem and the status of Ogre 1.9 on Ubuntu Resolute (see report). Upgrading to Ogre 1.12 affects the height map custom material system and requires dedicated development time. Will assess the effort required for an upgrade path.
  • Dart: Dart 6.16.6 is in stable. Releasing the gz_vendor_dart package in Rolling and will wait a couple of weeks before releasing for Ionic and Kilted.
  • Ubuntu Resolute: Added Resolute support for packages.o.o. Starting with the ogre-next / dartsim generation on Resolute. Exploring Ogre 2.3.3 with a FreeImage patch.
  • mujoco: A pull request to add support for revolute joints is ready for review: gazebosim/gz-physics#946.
  • FreeImage removal: Dropped FreeImage and Ogre 1.9 for rotary on macOS (osrf/homebrew-simulation#3394). Several gz-sensors tests don’t work with Ogre 2.3 (gazebosim/gz-sensors#605). Reviewing backports to Jetty (gazebosim/gz-common#803).
