Hi Gazebo Community!
This week’s meeting was held on 2026-04-13T18:00:00Z and the following is a summary:
New agenda items
- Removing dependency on freeimage (gazebosim/gz-rendering#1235): Freeimage is no longer maintained and has multiple CVEs. It will be disabled in homebrew on 2027-01-10T00:00:00Z. The PMC decided to drop Ogre 1.9 support on homebrew. A decision for Ubuntu 26.04 is pending further investigation.
- Feedback on potential Ogre 2.3 ABI change (OGRECave/ogre-next#568): A suggestion was made to add a flag to make the changes optional.
- Ubuntu Resolute testing: Efforts are underway to test Ubuntu Resolute using
action-ros-ciandaction-ci-gz.
Updates
- Buildfarm: No new issues were reported last week. Work is ongoing for a backport PR to address a
gz-msgs8clang warning (gazebosim/gz-msgs/pull/57). - gz-transport: Zenoh shared memory support is being enabled (gazebosim/gz-transport/pull/842) and a fix for async signal safety was proposed (gazebosim/gz-transport/pull/848).
- gz-rotary: Updates are in progress for documentation (gazebosim/docs/pull/685) and OCI images (openrobotics/gz_oci_images/pull/12).
- gz-rendering: Recent fixes include moving pixi paths to prevent cleanup issues (gazebo-tooling/release-tools/pull/1477) and deduplicating
OGRE_RESOURCE_PATHin the OGRE1 constructor (gazebosim/gz-rendering/pull/1254).
