This week’s meeting was held on 2026-04-27T18:00:00Z and the following is a summary:
PMC Business
- None
New agenda items
- Dropping Freeimage from Jetty: A backport PR gazebosim/gz-common#803 is in review. Prereleases are planned to facilitate community testing.
- Gazebo profiling: We had a detailed discussion on whether to integrate the profiling and benchmarking workflow directly into the Gazebo codebase for reproducibility versus keeping it as a standalone report.
- Community meeting on 2026-04-29T00:00:00Z: Simulating LEDs with Gazebo.
- ECM Implementation with Entt: gazebosim/gz-sim#3447 is ready to move forward and will be split into smaller PRs.
- Ogre Migration: Experiments are being conducted to port gz-rendering from Ogre 1.9 to 1.12 using AI agents.
Updates
- Ubuntu 26.04 Resolute support: Work has started on supporting the new distribution (gazebo-tooling/release-tools#1485), with some nightly debs and CI already enabled.
- CI branch filtering: A fix for branch filter patterns excluding double-digit major versions is being backported (gazebosim/sdformat#1445).
- Python API: A new draft PR exposes ECS components to Python, allowing for custom physics engine integration (gazebosim/gz-sim#3494).
- gz-transport Zenoh Shared memory: We are planning to upgrade Zenoh to version 1.8.
- Infrastructure: Jenkins has been experiencing issues with scrapers; the team is working on mitigation.
