TriOrb is a robotics startup headquartered in Kitakyushu, Japan, with R&D at AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology) Tokyo Waterfront and a growing presence in Detroit, Michigan.

We have been selected for the Deep-Tech Startups Support Program (DTSU) run by NEDO, a Japanese government agency and the country’s largest public R&D funding organization — and we have active inquiries from more than a dozen publicly listed companies.

Fixed, rigid production lines can’t adapt to demand uncertainty and high-mix low-volume production — so we’re building dynamically reconfigurable production lines on top of the world’s first ball-driven omnidirectional mobility platform for industry:

  • Patented three-ball omnidirectional drive mechanism, payloads up to 1,000 kg, footprints from 387 mm
  • mm-level positioning accuracy (high-precision Visual SLAM + control) for direct integration with production equipment
  • Multi-robot collaborative transport of large objects (cars, H-beams, long materials)
  • Robust traversal of steps, gaps, grating, slopes — environments where conventional AMRs struggle

To convert this pipeline into factories running in production, we’re building out our System Integration division — and we’re hiring its founding engineers.

The role

We’re looking for engineers who can lead AMR deployment projects end to end in the US — think of it as a blend of Solution Architect, Field Application Engineer, and System Integration Engineer. This is not “drop off a robot”: you’ll design how our omnidirectional AMRs integrate with factory equipment, production lines, and upper systems, and see each project through to stable operation.

Responsibilities

  • Technical meetings with customers; requirements definition
  • Design and management of AMR deployment projects
  • Interface design with peripheral equipment and production lines
  • On-site commissioning, trial operation, and tuning
  • Technical explanations and operational support for customers
  • Coordination with partner companies
  • Post-deployment improvement proposals
  • Close collaboration with our Japan development team, including business trips to Tokyo/Kyushu, Japan.

Qualifications

  • Experience deploying robots, AMRs/ROS2, or factory automation equipment at customer sites
  • Familiarity with factory systems integration (PLC, MES, WMS, fleet management, or similar)
  • Ability to lead customer-facing technical discussions, from requirements definition to operational support
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites across the US and occasionally to Japan

Location: United States (remote within the US is also welcome, and visa sponsorship available)
