About Us Kineshia Robotics is an IIT Madras spinoff incubated at the IITM Research Park. We focus on developing academic and research robotic platforms—including modular multi-modal manipulators and locomotion systems.
Location: On-site at IITM Research Park, Chennai, India
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview: We are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to own the control architecture, real-time GUI development, and physics-based simulation coupling for our robotic platforms.
Key Responsibilities
-
Control Software: Design modular control architectures for robotic manipulators using ROS 2 (Jazzy/Humble), covering position, velocity, current, and trajectory control.
-
GUI Development: Build real-time PyQt5/PyQtGraph interfaces for multi-DoF telemetry, simulation visualisation, and remote operation.
-
Simulation & Hardware Integration: Integrate Gazebo (
ros_gz) simulation with physical hardware (e.g., Dynamixel actuators) through unified command pipelines. -
Performance Profiling: Optimise event-driven applications, timer synchronisation, rendering loops, and distributed ROS 2 nodes.
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Strong proficiency in Python 3, Linux (Ubuntu), PyQt5/PyQtGraph, and ROS 2 (Jazzy/Humble).
-
Solid grasp of core robotics fundamentals: Kinematics (FK/IK), PID control, and trajectory planning.
-
Hands-on experience with Gazebo (
ros_gz), Git/GitHub, object-oriented design, multithreading, and debugging distributed ROS systems. -
Active involvement in student engineering teams (e.g., Robocon, Formula Student, URC) or prior experience with production software is highly desirable.
How to Apply. Interested candidates can apply directly via our Job Application Form or email us at hr@kineshia.in.
