Preparing for Foxy sync 2020-08-27

We’re planning for a Foxy sync this Thursday. There are currently 83 packages ready to sync and one known regression.

If you find a regression when testing, please report it upstream and leave a comment here so we can track it leading up to the sync.

Starting Wednesday (2020-08-26) we’ll hold all rosdistro PRs for Foxy unless they fix reported regressions. On Thursday (2020-08-27), we’ll announce the release.

I think releasing Add 'angles' dependency to nav2_costmap_2d package.xml by naiveHobo · Pull Request #1947 · ros-navigation/navigation2 · GitHub should fix the nav2_costmap_2d regression.

Hey, @jacob. When is the next sync scheduled for? There are a couple of packages that the PRs have been accepted for in rosdistro but we’re waiting on them to be released to port the Autoware.Auto stack to Foxy. Is the process still relatively cumbersome or could we convince you to do one sooner rather than later?

I try to do a sync every two weeks. Expect the next sync this Thursday (Preparing for Foxy sync 2020-09-10 - Foxy - Open Robotics Discourse).
