Hi Gazebo Community!
This week’s meeting was held on 2026-10-26T18:00:00Z and the following is a summary:
PMC Business
None this week.
New agenda items
- Buildfarm stormed by contributions: A nice problem to have! We discussed whether we want or not to trigger CI automatically on external contributions. In the short term, new buildfarm nodes were added manually. Some ideas discussed:
- Should maintainers have higher priority in the buildfarm?
- Require a maintainer to validate the PR and trigger CI.
- Security considerations: what if a PR includes a malicious binary?
Updates
Simulation, Physics & C++20 Migration
-
Bullet-Featherstone Kinematic Mode: After the gz-physics PRs merged, we created a demo in gz-sim:
- New TimelinePublisher system to play scripted sequences of messages and service calls from SDF (gz-sim#4088), backported to Jetty (gz-sim#4095) with Ionic (gz-sim#4096) and Harmonic (gz-sim#4097) in review
- New kinematic workshop demo world (gz-sim#4090)
-
C++20 Migration: Submitted an upstream patch to Ogre-next:
- Make GpuProgramParameters compile with C++20 (ogre-next#596)
-
Testing multiple physics engines in gz-sim: Integration tests can now run against several physics engines (gz-sim#4100, in review).
-
MuJoCo: Work in progress to update the MuJoCo plugin to version 3.17.
Rendering, Sensors & Transport
-
Zenoh 1.8.0 in Gazebo Jetty: (gz-transport#977) has been merged bringing support for Zenoh 1.8.0 into Gazebo Jetty.
-
Vulkan fixes: Fixes to run gz-sim with Vulkan on complex worlds (gz-gui#771), including Vulkan support in the ogre-2.3 Debian packages (ogre-2.3-release#10) and an upstream patch (ogre-next#597).
-
Ogre 1.12 support in gz-rendering: Reviews continue; the first four PRs are approved and the remaining two need more work (PR series).
Web & Documentation
Continuing effort to improve Fuel and Gazebo web:
- Upload and file handling (fuel-server#26)
- Search filtering (fuel-server#28)
- Reduce code duplication (gazebosim-app#46, gazebosim-app#47)
- Reduce Fuel server memory usage (fuel-server#31)
- Jenkins jobs to test the Fuel staging server (in progress)
- Fix Websocket bug (gz-sim#4093)
Infrastructure, Packaging & Release Tooling
-
Buildfarm warnings: Some mesh shape deprecation warnings remain after the DART trimesh fix (gz-physics#1127), and new macOS warnings were reported in gz-sim (gz-sim#4138, gz-sim#4139). Both are being looked at.
-
Skip CI for ignored files: Jenkins can skip CI on Linux (release-tools#1558) and macOS (release-tools#1575) when a PR only touches files such as Markdown, GitHub workflows, Bazel metadata, LICENSE or package.xml. It can be tested by adding
SKIP_CI_FOR_IGNORED_FILESto the PR description. -
Automated changelog: The changelog script was merged (release-tools#1447) and is being integrated with the
generate_changelogscript.
