We’re a small, well-funded stealth startup building autonomous USV and UUV platforms. Early stage, real hardware, real deployments.
We’re looking for someone to own the software stack. Architecture decisions, sensor integration, autonomy frameworks, operator interfaces. You’ll be the person who decides how things are built. You’ll work in tandem with our hardware lead, you’ll need to be Florida based or able to relocate.
What we need:
Ideally you’ve shipped production-grade autonomous systems. You’re comfortable in C++ or Python, you know ROS 2 well enough to have opinions about it, and ideally you’ve dealt with the gap between a system that works in Gazebo and one that works in the field.
Specific experience that matters:
- Autonomy stack architecture (Nav2, SLAM Toolbox, or equivalent at that level)
- Sensor fusion LiDAR, radar, camera, IMU in real environments
- Embedded/real-time systems that actually run on hardware
- CI/CD and test pipelines for robotics (not just software)
The role:
- Clearwater, FL — onsite
- ~$120-150K depending on experience
- Full-time
Drop a note to harry@houston-systems.com with a few lines on what you’ve shipped and what you’d build differently next time. CVs welcome but not necessary.
