Question about acceptable fiber cable alternatives (Germany shipping issue)

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question about the fiber cable used in the AI for Industry Challenge setup.

I noticed that the recommended LC-to-SC duplex multimode fiber optic cable appears to be difficult to source locally, and the example Amazon listing I found currently cannot be shipped to Germany.

Would it be acceptable to use an equivalent alternative, as long as the key specifications remain the same?

For example, if the original cable is:

  • LC to SC

  • duplex

  • multimode

  • OM2 50/125

Would it be acceptable to substitute a similar LC-to-SC duplex multimode cable, such as OM3 or OM4, if OM2 is unavailable?

I just want to make sure the replacement is fully compatible with the official setup.

A tangent, but I think for the qualification phase we only have to make sure our policy node work in gazebo simulation?

Yes, considering the long procurement lead time, we plan to start the preparation in advance.
