Congratulations, Vicky (VM) Brasseur, on your appointment as Chief Program Officer at Open Robotics!
Your outstanding leadership, deep expertise in the open-source ecosystem, and long-standing contributions to the Open Source Robotics Alliance have already made a significant impact on the global robotics community.
I am confident that your vision and strategic leadership will further accelerate innovation in open-source robotics and strengthen collaboration across academia, industry, and developers worldwide.
Wishing you every success in this exciting new role, and I look forward to seeing Open Robotics reach even greater milestones under your leadership.
@Vanessa_Yamzon_Orsi did a good job summarizing the role above: “advancing our core initiatives”.
Because you’re here, you’re obviously good at the internet and have already done a web search to learn more about the role of Chief Program Officer in general. I won’t insult your intelligence by explaining that basic stuff and will interpret your question as “What exactly is the role of a Chief Program Officer at Open Robotics?”
A program in this context is a high-level and strategic initiative. Our nonprofit foundation has four primary programs that together define the scope of our mission:
Advocacy: outreach and support to grow the open source robotics ecosystem
Education: increase resources and access to learning about open source robotics and its ecosystem
Community: growing and fostering a healthy open source robotics community
OSRA: guide and assist with the governance of the Open Robotics software projects
As Chief Program Officer, I work to ensure each and every one of these programs is moving, and doing so in a direction that’s good both for Open Robotics and for the overall ecosystem.
Please let me know if this doesn’t clarify the role here at Open Robotics. I’m happy to answer any questions people may have.
