Upgrading my ROS 2 GoPiGo3 robot Kilted-Dave to Ubuntu 26.04 exposed some familiar hurdles and a subtle new change in Python 3.14 that made the life of my registered digital entity as “Lyrical-Dave” messy.

My robots Carl, WaLI, and Dave are all embodiments of a mystical digital entity “tt” which I registered in 2014.

The story of the birth of “tt”, the lives of the digital entity, and how Ubuntu 26.04 with its new Python 3.14 interpreter made my ROS 2 GoPiGo3 robot Lyrical-Dave’s life very messy is a bit of a long read as it covers 12 years of digital object lives.
