# Preparing for Galactic sync and patch release 2021-07-08

It’s time for the first Galactic sync and patch release. This patch release will include some changes made to core packages for both our packages (Ubuntu, RHEL), and omnibus binaries on Windows and Linux.

There are currently [no regressions](http://repo.ros2.org/status_page/ros_galactic_default.html?q=REGRESSION) and [146 packages](http://repo.ros2.org/status_page/ros_galactic_default.html?q=SYNC) to release.

We will start holding rosdistro PRs for the sync on Friday, July 9th, with a plan to do the sync and release next week.
