Hi All,

Related a bit to the Astra thread… has anyone tried the Intel Realsense?
It appears there is no OpenNI for Realsense, but is that important?
Any disadvantages you foresee?

Thank you,

I did see this from Clearpath.

It sounds like Astra may be the new default, but see complaints of it being “noisy”… is it better than Realsense?

Hi All,

We do have a couple of pending PR’s to add the Realsense R200 as an available camera in the default turtlebot stack: [Add support for Intel R200 camera by mattcurfman · Pull Request #222 · turtlebot/turtlebot · GitHub](https://github.com/turtlebot/turtlebot/pull/222) and [Parameterize AMCL and GMapping launch files for individual cameras. by kevincwells · Pull Request #152 · turtlebot/turtlebot\_apps · GitHub](https://github.com/turtlebot/turtlebot_apps/pull/152) we hope to get landed soon.

Until then there’s a minorly forked version and documentation for using Realsense w/ Turtlebot at [GitHub - IntelRealSense/realsense-ros: ROS Wrapper for Intel(R) RealSense(TM) Cameras](https://github.com/intel-ros/realsense/)

There are new versions in Indigo and Kinetic of the realsense drivers:

> **[ROS packages for Indigo - 2019-07-10 09:00:23 -0800](http://repositories.ros.org/status_page/ros_indigo_default.html?q=realsense)**

> **[ROS packages for Kinetic - 2021-06-01 22:32:58 -0800](http://repositories.ros.org/status_page/ros_kinetic_default.html?q=realsense)**

And the TurtleBot PRs have been merged too.
