Each event seems to offer “Copy to my calendar”, which does copy a particular event on to my calendar, but the event doesn’t seem to get updates from the original event entity. Also even if the original event is recurring, the copied event seems to be one-time.
Choosing “Add to Google Calendar” option adds this entire community event calendar to my calendar, which shows all events, not just the ones of my interest.
The idea of aggregating the community events at a single location is great!!! It’s just on my personal calendar, having all events would be simply too much, so would like to be selective.
There’s no easy way to do what you want right now, unfortunately (or at least I don’t know of one; I welcome being proved wrong on this). It’s a limitation of the tooling. Plus: calendaring is hard.
For what it’s worth, I’m currently investigating options for a new events calendar, with an aim toward not only consolidating all events on a single calendar, but also to allow people to add/edit their own events and enable better filtering/linking. The filtering/linking should hopefully solve #1 for you.
As for #2… That’s a good question. I’ll add this to the list of things to check for when reviewing options.

Missing the event that I wanted/had to join is the worst (especially due to the events on my calendar being outdated from the schedule of the original event entity e.g. MoveIt Community Meeting: Tuesday July 21 - #2 by 130s ). So for now I rather chose “Add to Google Calendar” (that shows all the community events on my calendar though…I may end up being an expert on ROS events schedule).
