Hi everyone,

We at eProsima are sharing a preview of the upcoming AI capabilities in DDS Monitor Pro, with a workflow that is also relevant to engineers working with DDS-based ROS 2 systems.

The Monitor’s built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connects an MCP-compatible AI assistant to the system information and operations available in the Monitor. You can ask questions about the running system and inspect the resulting entities, charts and operations in the workspace.

The preview demonstrates four workflows:

- Explore discovered applications, topics, publishers and subscribers.
- Create graphs from selected topic fields.
- Investigate a communication problem using endpoint configuration, including a reliability QoS mismatch.
- Publish sample data to a selected topic in a test environment and observe the response.

For ROS 2 deployments using DDS, the connection is the underlying DDS topics and endpoints. The Monitor works at that layer; this is not a claim that it understands every ROS graph concept or supports every ROS middleware implementation.

Fast DDS Pro can also be integrated into ROS 2 and Vulcanexus to provide additional communication capabilities and professional tools. That integration is distinct from the requirements for inspecting a particular system with the Monitor.

The linked videos demonstrate the DDS workflows. For a specific ROS 2 setup, compatibility and the available operations depend on the middleware, versions, topic type information and configuration.

DDS Monitor Pro is a commercial product. These new capabilities are in final testing, with release expected in the coming weeks. The MCP server starts disabled. Once enabled, connected clients can invoke supported operations without a separate approval prompt for each action, so use trusted clients and a test environment for publishing data.
